Corona Curfew

The First Day

27th Rajab, 24th March 2020

 Agha Inamullah Khan

Garbage bins need no emptying
No buzzing echo from our old water pump
Switched on everyday
Disturbing early morning
No noise of traffic on road
Can hear winds rattling leaves
Birds tweeting, chirping
No rush at Petrol Pumps
My vehicle still
Needn't, a fill
No heaps of laundry to be done
Sweepers, Cook, Gardner or Laundry man Rizwan
No one appeared, all locked down
For 14 dusk  and Dawns
A privilege to smell peace and hear the mist
Experimenting alternating senses Deviating from inherited chemo-physiology
Challenging at synapses
No poisonous emissions from Rickshaws & motorbikes
Staring, from bedroom window at
Sky so beautifully blue
Deepak Chopra's book beside me, borrowed from Ayaz
Portraying Muhammad n Mecan medieval lives

Wats-apping, Bill Gates sinister plans
Grinding roasted Grams
Kids busy helping in house work
Not much of usual daily yelling, pulling them off cells
So calm & peaceful is Corona curse
Aiman, Rabell, Alaina & Basit
Mopping, dusting, sweeping, isn’t it a blessing!
Lullo, our Shitzu female pet appears little confused.
Gillo, white Persian fluffy male cat disoriented
Can even hear neighbor sweeping floor
Azan is now heard clear n loud, 5 times
Except for an addition of “Asalat fe beutekum"
“Say your prayer at home”
Streets are empty
Roads are clean
No pebbles to trip off
Oldies can comfortably walk
Only thrill now
Is dare the curfew
Going out to buy a chicken
Erum has to cook for lunch, Veggie n Stew
